I dug out an old Springsteen bootleg yesterday. I'd forgotten how good Roy Bitten's intro to Jungleland actually was. Not to mention Badlands.

Steve Miller Band "Fly like an eagle" I consider that I have really only heard that song once, and there was no keyboard at all. Are you kidding me? The whole song is keyboard and bass. It's got that weird psychedelic synth.

I think he means the synth piece that's sometimes used as an intro. I think that may be a separate song, but I'm not sure. There's another little synth run at the end that barely qualifies as a solo. There's some amazing piano work on Steely Dan's Aja album. Actually, that whole album's pretty amazing.

While it doesn't really qualify as solo piano, The Weight by The Band has some awesome piano fills. All the ones I thought of have already been posted.

Wonderful player and producer, and a great example of a Christian who happens to be in the music business, not just someone in the Christian music business (although he's been successful in both). And his playing on the title track from Aja is simply impeccable.

How about "Foreplay" by Boston? "Only Time Will Tell" and "The Heat Goes On" by Asia Nobody has mentioned much from Christian music, but I always enjoyed John Lawry's "Jesus Loves You" keyboard bit during PETRA concerts....

Nobody has mentioned much from Christian music I tried to think of some, but came up blank. Most of the popular Christian music I've heard doesn't have much in the way of solos regardless of the instrument. Other than some Phil Keaggy and a few Third Day tunes I can't think of a decent guitar solo. And I'm completely blank on keys, drums, and horns.

He had quite a run in the late 70s through the mid 80s as a producer - Christopher Cross (won a Grammy for the first album), Rod Stewart, Donna Summer and I can't remember who all else. I wonder what he's doing now. His wife Stormie is a very successful author (but I'm sure you knew that already).

Jouney Kansas Chicago- where'd they go? Beach Boys Did ol' Elton John get mentioned? the music is not so popular... yet Humble may have heard some of Jean Michael Jarre's synthesizer stuff? Really lengthy 'operas' almost. Have to mention VANGELIS and their Chariots of Fire Theme Song Bruce Hornsby has a lot of piano in it Toto Asia Yes Eric Clapton James Taylor Phil Collins I cant' think of the individual songs... just firing away at artists that might have solos Alright, folks... how bout that earlier rock 'n roll golden classic oldies stuff? Harry Connick Jr. plays some of it Liberace Emmanuel Ax You never close your eyes... Eisley Bros? Pointer Sisters? Mariah Carey's background folks? Dino Dire Straits artists from England- pub scene stuff? This is not easy, the keyboard is more for BKG sound than to leap out for a solo, usually. Anyone mentioned any jazz piano solos? So... what's the end result for keeping track of all these? Do they make you want to applaud, or woo-hoo, or just stop in your tracks and bask in happy memories of the past?

ORIGINAL: OneJohn410 Have to mention VANGELIS and their Chariots of Fire Theme Song Actually that would be HIS tune. Vangelis is a guy. A friend tried to buy an orchestral score for that back in the day and it turned out it had only been scored for piano, 2 synths and percussion. He whipped out his own full orchestra arrangement in a couple of days. Off Topic: Has anyone ever heard the muzak version using a pedal steel guitar as the lead instrument? It is painful.....
