This is a hot issues for me. It almost caused a divorce in my house. There were two times I almost divorced my husband, one was over the checking accounts.

I agree, NotaLisa. Doing that without notifying you was bad enough, but to do it back from January? And I am wondering why they didn't notice there was a problem until now.

Cynthia and Cindybode,

You two might make it in my congregation if you were part of the in crowd that the rabbi and his wife like so much. There are plenty of volunteers that
have not been used, and would be shocked I'm sure to know I feel the way I do.

I would be finding out

  • Why it didn't go through in the first place
  • Why they supposedly didn't find out until now
  • What the law is on resending something through
  • I would also check my accounts through every month from January to find out if they are correct or it it really went through

Narnia, First of all, I don't know what their problem would be with you, but there is no excuse for the way they have treated you, even if you were an annoying or rude person. I just cannot fathom it. And what makes you think they would like us any better than they like you?! I have a feeling you could be wrong on that.

Since I'm a little short of cash and it may be some time before I can get caught up does anybody have any ideas for Christmas presents I can make fairly cheaply? I have two granddaughters that will be 2.* Nieces that are 3, 4, 5, 8, 14 and 18 (I think) and a stepdaughter that's 20. Nephews that are 9, 10, 14 and just turning 16 right after Christmas.

All the little girls got dolls I made last year, so I think dolls are out this year.

I also have a 14 yo son, almost 22 yo son and his wife to give presents to.

*The 2 granddaughters both belong to the same son, different mothers. Born a month apart. They're opposites in looks, one brown eyed brunette, one blue eyed blond, both adorable of course LOL He has custody of one of them and recently married a very sweet girl that his brown-eyed baby girl calls Mommy.

Cynthia, I really do keep up with my checkbook. I don't do it the way dh does it, which drives him nuts, but he has one and I have the other so we've agreed to leave each other alone about it.

Pam, I'm thinking that little girls might love a box of dress up stuff. You could pick things up cheap at the thrift store. I did something like that many years ago and even my non-girly girls enjoyed it. I'll post more ideas as I think of them, but you might want to start a thread in parenting. I'm sure there's lots of folks with ideas.

Good for you. And yes, you will figure something out. It can be difficult and confusing, but if you keep at it, you will get it straight. I use checks and sometimes my debit card. When I use the card, I always write the transaction in the check register right then, usually before I give the cashier my card. If you have to, use cash for a month until everything has cleared, then start over. I've done that.

I would go into more detail, but it wouldn't be appropriate. I've probably already said too much. But I do want you to know that I understand, but that I've suffered huge consequences from not taking proper care of my accounts.

I wouldn't know what sizes to make them, the dolls were 3 different types. I doubt if the 3 and 4 yos could even find theirs now. I know brown-eyed baby girl keeps hers naked, LOL.

Maybe I can find a good pattern for a teddy bear or some other animal. I can get lots of nice upholstery fabric scraps free at work

NotaLisa--sounds like you like to sew. How 'bout stuffed animals? I've made them out of fleece. They are pretty quick and easy. Check the remnant bin since you don't need huge yardage for each. I got a book from the library for the patterns.

No, that's ok, you haven't said too much. I used to be much better at finances, but "brain fog" from fibromyalgia catches up with me sometimes and even when I tried to write everything down I sometimes forgot. I've been doing a lot better since I've been seeing "that dr" I can even work now
The last time we had a problem the bank somehow lost a deposit, they found it from the number on my receipt but it took a little while.

That sounds like a great idea! My own kids didn't outgrow beanie bears until, well, never did!

Sounds like we're thinking alike. I'll check at my library if I can't find something online. All my doll patterns last year were found online. Yeah, I sew whether I like it or not

That's why I said "if". I was not assuming he or his wife would like you, but there's always the possibility they might.

And I suspect that his wife is the one that commanded the change. She really likes C and since wife is picking the music for the tam dances, she has control over what songs are done.

C may still ask me to pick songs, but the wife will always have one in mind, I think. Unless C is preemptive and tells wife that she wants and has asked me to pick a song, I don't see that changing.

I don't know if rabbi's wife knows C has told me she wants my help, but if she does I'm sure she's not happy about that.

Okay then I just want to make sure you don't think it's just you they don't like. You've been through a lot there.

Here is something you could give to the eldest and his wife....maybe with some older photos of him at Christmas or something.

Here are some free teddy bear patterns.

I do think that-they have made it clear that I am an outsider. This is why I no longer want to attend any purely social events.

I have noticed something else since we had the membership class. Only three people out if that class got re-baptized. I have not seen three people since that class. There were about 12 of us in the class-from what I can see, only 5 people will become members.

Ashley made some yummy butternut squash soup yesterday (Jen would be so proud!) and I really, really want some right now. Trouble is, I didn't bring any with me.

It is good soup weather here too, Cindybode. I have been looking up recipes this week for dinner and have been printing them out.

Since there is no school tomorrow and it will be another day of rain, I think my blessing and I will make cookies. Cookies and a cobbler or crisp. For Friday I will make my Sukkot challah-the one that is stuffed to the brim with apples.

I need to make some crisp. I still have pears and apples coming out my you-know-what.

Wish I lived closer. I'd love to take some of them off your hands.

Did you know you can use your slow cooker to make applesauce?

I make apple butter in my crockpot. I just use the stove for regular applesauce.
