Dee - you nailed it. It was how they acted and the conversation went on so fast I felt like I had no control and I have been corrected for correcting these kids in the past. There was a new baby in the family this weekend and I made Poppa call her. Why? Because I didn't want to hear her make fun of the name or the family situation. Dad plays speed metal (well - I might add, if you like that thing) Mom and Dad aren't married and yes, the name is really unusual. The grandparents are the black sheep of the family and I just didn't want to hear the comments. So, when I was listening to Poppa's half of the conversation they were talking about which boy in the family was expecting and I after I heard him say it several times, he said "well, Momma & DD went to the shower and it is B's kid" Love my Sweetie. I can't post the name because I guarentee it would identify our family but roughly means "Beautiful daughter of God's earth" according to her mom & dad. Not bad for screaming speed metal freak. He said that he realizes that God has given us a brief time on earth and we have to take care of her (earth) and each other and not waste our time with people that are angry or mean. And, he has a little 9# girl to try and improve the world a smidge. I wonder if the school / dr / parents have a diagnosis for the boy I mentioned. I think Mom would have pulled him no matter what because she often talked about how he was treated by his peers. And, the school seems to 'look the other way' when he causes problems according to my neices. The fact that it looks that way may mean there is a diagnosis and problems are dealt with differently and without the classmates being aware.

Ok, this came home with my daughter today and it was so hard not to laugh. Dear Family: We are sad to report that our behavior as a class in the library today was unacceptable. By unacceptable, we mean LEVEL A and LEVEL B behaviors. Some of us were using our pencils and bookmarks as swords and some of us were throwing library books and talking so loud that our library teacher could not give instructions. Most of us had our seats switched. Althought some of us were choosing acceptable behaviors, we felt we needed to write a letter of apology to our library teacher. Mrs. XX (the class teacher) has faith in us that we will make better choices next week. Ok, I have never in the years that my kids have been in school ever seen a note like that come home and I am just trying to picture twenty five 7 and 8 year olds playing pirate with their pencils and bookmarks, running around screaming and all that. It was just a bit much. Remember those scenes in the movie Kindergarten Cop? I know that was quite a few years ago, but that ran through my mind.

And I have to wonder what was happening that lead it escalate to sword fighting. You don't go from zero to that letter without missing an opportunity to reign it in unless the teacher was out of the room. Do you? I was with a 3-year old boy today and his mom is worried he is ADD. I tried to tell her he was NORMAL. Just a ball of energy and trying to perform for the company that he gets every week.

Oh my Tracy! Got a good giggle out of that letter! One of those come home with my daughter I would have had to "give myself a time-out" to think alone in my bedroom! Then I would have had to have a conversation with my baby girl about appropriate behavior in school, and reminded her about what I expect from her when she's in school. Good news on the school front here! Aryn got her mid term report today and as expected she is doing really well. Ty is currently getting 3 B's and 3 A's. And even better - Our Art teacher is back! The kids I guess were so excited to see her! Ethan had her for class today and Aryn has her first thing tomorrow morning! I'm going in Wednesday morning to see if she needs help with anything! The "burger-boy" comment would have infuriated me! We have a couple children in the elementary school with Ausburger's and name calling is NOT tolerated at all! And high schoolers! They should know better! If my high schooler or any of his buds would have pulled something like this they would have SO heard about it from me regardless of what their parents would have said to me! I worked with disabled adults and children for many years and have a soft spot in my heart for those with challenges. Blessings, Garsy

I've been kicking myself ever since. It is my SIL, it was DeeDee's party and it would have been a problem. And I shied away from it.

Wow Tracy, sounds like quite a scene! What did your daughter say about it? Hi Kath, thanks for asking. I'm OK. It's hard sometimes to live with a 17yo who wants to be someplace else, especially when you don't agree with some of the life choices she is making. Both my SS class and the Bible study I'm in have been doing a pretty good job of reminding me that God is good all the time, and that God is in control. Dee

Of course my daughter said she was one of the well behaved kids. I believe her because she is a demon at home and totally opposite at school.
