quote:

The Messiah calls the Pope

The Pope was in the middle of an audience when his principal advisor whispered in his ear: "Your Holiness, I hate to interrupt, but the Messiah is on the phone and he wants to talk to you."

The Pope excused himself so he could take the call in private. A few minutes later he came back out with a somber expression.

He said, "I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the call was from the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, our Saviour, and the time of the second coming is at hand. The bad news is that he was calling from Jerusalem."

Anybody where we can get some Jewish smileys? lol.

How nice to stop by after another hiatus to some funny jokes!

Basically here is my situation...

Any questions? Not that it's an excuse for my lack of presence or anything.

The Headache

Sadie goes to see her rabbi and complains about her bad kopvaitiks (headaches). "Zay is mir," she sighs. She whines, cries, and talks about her poor living conditions for hours.

All of a sudden, Sadie shouts, overjoyed, "Rabbi, your holy presence has cured me! My kopvaitik is gone!"

To which the rabbi replies, "No Sadie, it is not gone. I have it now."

"What are you talking about?" Moishe replies. "Those blintzes were only an exchange. I gave you the potato latkes for them."

"Yes, but you didn't pay for them either."

"Why should I pay for the potato latkes? I didn't eat them."

lol!

Hi everyone. Hey it can get quiet in here in general it's not just me.

Ok question for the week...

Do you attend both a Messianic shabbat service AND a regular Christian service? If or if not, share your thoughts.

I'll share too but I wanna hear from a few first.

I attend Shabbat services only, except on those rare times I attend a Sunday service for my job.

I had been attending the Shabbat services occasionally while I was a member of a Sunday church. When I got kicked out of the church, I continued attendance there for awhile just to support my husband, who works on Saturdays. Also, when he left that church, I initially went with him as he searched for a new church. Once he was settled in a church, I stopped attending with him.

One who observes Sabbath needs a day to do shopping and that housework that cannot be done on a weekday. Since there is no way I am going to do those things on Sabbath, the logical day is to do it on Sunday. I usually do the shopping in the morning, then he and I go out to eat. Afterward, I do the housework.

????????????????? that still happens? ROFL.

Right now we only attend our Sabbath services.
Last week we visited another Sabbath church in this
area on Sabbath night. They were just having singing,
but we visited quite a while afterwards.

I would attend a Sunday service if there were a need.
But right now, there hasn't been a need to do so. lol.

I try to keep up with the lawn work during the week, but
it seems Sunday is the day I wind up mowing, weed eating,
and whatever else needs to be done around the church and homes.

Around here it might be "hard" to sit through a Sunday message.
Since most are mixtures of WoF, prosperity, and rapture stuff.
And some have entertainment for entertainment sake.

Once in a while we go out to eat after Sabbath, but seldom, and it seems like
we're always beating the other churches to the restaurant. lol.
Then I remember we're 24 hours ahead of them.

I really think my body craves the Sabbath couch for those long naps after
church. And some times my body wants to carry it over into Sunday. lol.

Einstein Explained

An old Jewish man reads about Einstein's theory of relativity in the newspaper and asks his scientist grandson to explain it to him.

"Well, zayda, it's sort of like this. Einstein says that if you're having your teeth drilled without Novocain, a minute seems like an hour. But if you're sitting with a beautiful woman on your lap, an hour seems like a minute."

The old man considers this profound bit of thinking for a moment and says, "And from this he makes a living?"

lol! Oh gee.

So to answer my own question, I have been attending Sabbath services only for quite awhile now. I went to my first Christian service in a long time last week Saturday. I don't know...when you haven't gone in awhile it feels different. The sermon only scratched the surface and while I agreed with everything it was just not the deep message I usually get from Shabbat service. But I did enjoy the practical aspect of the sermon and how the pastor helps believers to apply the Word of G-d in our lives. That I don't get from Shabbat service. I suppose that no matter what, as Gentiles, we can benefit from both. I wouldn't mind attending Christian services again, but in conjunction with Shabbat service.

Please pray though. I just found out that no one at work can get Saturdays off and I have to work on Sundays for awhile. I can still go to Shabbat service on Friday evenings but to not have the Sabbath off on Saturday saddens me.

Oh, wow, Above. That would be so disheartening -- to have to work on Sabbath. Did they suddenly change things? Had you always had Sabbath off? Can you push to get it off based upon your religious reasons -- freedom of religion?

When I was a kid I hated working Sundays because of church.
I never could figure out why they wouldn't let me off Sunday and
work Saturday or whatever. I usually had to work Saturday and Sunday.

But a SDA could come to work there and they refused to work Saturday,
but they let Sunday be their day-off. Seems like the secular world
operates on a government mindset too. Always give you the opposite
of what you want even if what you want is the best for all.

After boot-camp I put in for a tug-boat on the west-coast.
What did I get? An aircraft carrier on the east-coast. lol.

Well I'm moving from a partial sales consultant to full time and as a general rule, you can't have Saturdays off because it's a busy day. I'll just keeping praying about it.

Hi all~
I've visited Messianic congregations near our old home in MN, and when I've visited my parents in CA, and I hope to find one here in SC. I've been told there are a few in our area, but that they are very different from one another.
When we first came to the Lord, we attended a church that instilled in us a deep love for Israel, and a foundation of interpreting scripture in the context of who it was written to. Right now, my husband and I are attending a small startup SBC here, and the pastor is wonderful and teaches with great insight, but I still have a deep longing to be able to spend time within a Messianic setting. Admittedly, in the beginning, it was out of curiousity, but I've found so much joy and peace as I've meditated on the things that the Spirit has taught me that I hope I will be able to continue.
I just want to say, I've appreciated reading so many of your posts and the way you've shared from a Messianic perspective. I hope you don't mind if I eavesdrop on your fellowship.
I wish there was a "Messianic" folder where I could ask questions of only Messianics, just to avoid the craziness that happens. It's the main reason why I post so little and "lurk" so much.
Blessings,
Melanie

In my area, I've found not two of them alike.
More diverse than regular churches.

Welcome too! What can we call you?

I hear that some Messianic congregations are more "Orthodox" in nature than others. The one I attend is very much Spirit-filled. Our Rabbi is known as the dancing Rabbi. lol. A complete Messianic folder (rather than just a thread) would be nice! But the only problem with that is that is that there are few doctrines that evangelical Christians disagree with and are ones that are against the TOS.

How about asking your questions here?

Right on bolt!

So it looks like other than the blowing of the shofar, we will have a groom's processional and communion added to our ceremony. I have never been to a Christian wedding when communion took place. Strange huh. You would think. But then again most people who get married in a church are not really believers at all. They either do it cause it's in their family or they just like the idea of a church wedding. So having communion wouldn't be right. But wouldn't it not be good to have a wedding under G-d if you are not a true believer?

I compared the Messianic Jewish wedding (which is basically Jewish only that Yeshua is added) with the Christian and everything in the Christian is from the Jewish. I like the idea of the groom also doing a processional and both parents walking down the aisle with the bride. The rest is mainly very Jewish and not necessary for Gentiles to perform. I'm excited about the blowing of the shofar!

The Operation

Martin was in Children's Hospital awaiting an operation, sharing a room with another boy who was also waiting for an operation. The boy turned to Martin and said, "What operation are you having?"

Martin responded, "I'm here to have my tonsils removed."

"That's a great operation! I had mine out a year ago. They let you play computer games. They give you all the ginger ale and ice cream you want. They treat you like a King."

Martin looked at his companion and asked, "What operation are you having?"

The boy looked at Martin and said, "I'm here for a circumcision."

Martin paused for a moment and then said, "Gosh, that's too bad. That's a terrible operation. I was circumcised the first week I was born and I didn't walk for a year!"

Hehehe.

So....does anyone here follow along with the 40 days of repentance that leads to Rosh Hashanah? I think that is a wonderful thing for Gentiles to adopt don't you think? Just imagine the things we can teach our children. A far better way to honor G-d, repent of our sins and prevent sin rather than a New Year resolution or quick "I'm sorry."
