What I suspect happened when they changed our meters to digital is that they conveniently doubled or more everyone's bill to pay for it. That is the only explanation I can think of. After all, they know very well that personal suits are unlikely. I hope the county that has the class action suit can get at least some satisfaction.

Can anyone tell me whether or not part of my browsing problems may be due to trying to surf without fisching at the same time?

I think I have solved most of my problems as far as getting fully operating. I was able to get the rest of the downloads in successfully from MS Update today. One of them was aimed specifically toward Win XP users with a NTFS file system on their hard drive. That is what I am using now. The updates ate up about the same amount of space as operating systems alone used to. My hard drive is only 22gb, but I have a little less than 7 still open.

The thing flies like an eagle on the Internet and then...I don't know what it stumps its toes on, for certain.

It is supposed to snow here this weekend and the leaves have only had half a chance to change and fall off. It snowed the other day in Billings and here and there in the higher altitudes.

The cheapest I can get milk is 2 gal. for $5. It is $4.35 a gal. at the neighborhood store.

Milk- we round UP when figuring what we are spending and the kids do the running and return with a figure of 5.00 so Milk here (Cheapest brand) is somewhere between 4.01 and 5.00 a gallon. We do NOT drink much milk due to lactose intolerance/sensitivites so we probably only use a gallon every week and a half to 2 weeks so the increased cost is not pinching us.

Milk is strictly for to make your cereal WET. none of us drink it out of the glass and we do not have a glass at every meal or anything like I know a lot of families do. We even have a family that visits with us once a year that actually brings a 5 day cooler filled with gallon jugs of the cow squeezins cause they know we don't drink it. I found their milk consumption ODD to say the least the first time they visited. But I have since met other families that are the same. We had all just rather not sit around coughing and hacking up Milk induced hairballs or sitting in the outhouse doing extensive reading of the Sears and Roebucks catalog.

even the old cat is lactose intolerant.

Remember this guy? (www dot paulsen.com)

Our homeschool choir is doing an old popular song...you probably don't know this song unless your parents or grandparents sang it at ya:

A Marshmallow World

"It's a marshmallow world in the winter, when the snow comes to cover the ground. It's the time for play. It's a whipped cream day. I wait for it the whole year 'round. Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly, in the arms of the evergreen trees. And the sun is red like a pumpkin head. It's shining so your nose won't freeze. The world is your snowball. See how it grows. That's how it goes whenever it snows. Get out and roll it along. It's a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts. Take a walk with your favorite girl. It's a sugar date. What if spring is late? In winter it's a Marshmallow world."

The milk causes my airway to constrict- get all gummy- sometimes making it hard to breathe. I have a couple of kids that go the same route. A couple go the sears and roebuck route if they have more than 1 serving in a given day.

That is happening in Billings but not Polson. We live in the hot spot. When the wind blows, we all freak out 'cause we be so very spoiled. My daughter is sad. I'm not! I'm not quite finished getting ready for it anyway.

It is only like 23 degrees here though. That makes my dog so frisky that my shoulder and arm are sore from him yanking on the leash. I can't train some things out of him. He was soooo nice this Summer. I thought I had made real progress. I worked out a lead/pulley thang to take him swimming without having to get in every time myself.

I'm irritated. That dope Senator (socialist) Jon Tester spammed my mailbox with garbage that boils down to "I want you, the "middle class," to sell your souls to the government. You cannot live without letting us take over caring for and paying for your children's health care. We must do everything we can to drive up costs so that people can't survive without government intervention and spending."

it is another way to keep tabs on the kids cause they think that they belong to them and not us. You know they used to not want to start indoctrinating them til they were 5 or 6... Then when my #2 was little they got the whole Pre-K kick going. Now they are pushing to get them into "school" as young as 3. Oh you don't need to worry bout lil suzie, we will take good care of her. Uh huh. Wrong answer. If they can get the health care thing nailed down how long do you think it'd be before mom and dad will be charged with "neglect" because they did not take full advantage of the medical care offered?

We went in as younguns for immunizations. that was a few times as babes then again at 5 and again at 12. if you were not a sickly kid that was as often as you went to the doctor. no one freaked if they did not get a yearly physical. Now you go in for your physical and they run you down. even ask the kid if they wear their seat belts or sit in a carseat(whichever is appro for the childs age) Um EXCUSE ME you are supposed to be looking at the body and making sure it is all good... this is not some sort of inquisition here folks. I have actually had a nurse look at me and say "I was asking the child ma'am." I nearly got up and left right there.

I dont even recall having to have a physical to cheer lead in primary school and middle school. now try to enroll in school without a physical.

Can you tell that I don't like that nurse? She needs a bloody nose.

AND 72 degrees? What can I say.
This morning (at five am or so) the temp is 14.

Just dropping in to say that milk here costs $2.69 at the cheapest and I don't know about the most cause we always buy the cheapest! And yes, we're one of those families that goes through about 5 gallons a week. BUT we don't buy juice or soda or anything like that very often.

Oh, and we got gas this weekend for $2.99/gal. It's times like these that I appreciate the perks of Jersey livin'.

We don't do Juice or soda(we call it Pop) as a rule. I get a 12 pack of Pepsi One a week, it is my "Coffee". That's not quite 2 cans a day... my husband would drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day + a cup of decaf or 2 so giving me a case of pepsi One is no biggie. We do A LOT of water here.

Course I have kids that fight over green veggies. They never saw the humor in the Hidden valley Ranch commercials that had the state fair theme where they had the salad eating contests and were serving up cauliflower instead of popcorn. We had a light lunch on sunday- my 18yo warmed over some meatloaf muffins(easier to freeze and reheat if made in a muffin tin.) and made mashed potatoes and served it up. She has 3 siblings ask where the veggies were. two of the 3 told her taters was a startch and not a veggie- she said she knew that but was pretending for the time being.

$2.99/gal gas prices? That would cause a riot that would make the national news broadcasts out here.

I payed $5 for a tall container of Quaker Oats at the supermarket with the best prices in my area last week.

Maybe I'm just behind the times to think that is enough. They wanted $5 for a gallon of orange juice as well. I wasn't the only one who said they were getting nauseated while walking through the aisles because of the prices.

I am very glad that dd loves munching on vegetables, raw or cooked.

Did y'all enjoy the Barak Osama news story? Ever since he came on the scene my hh has been saying that his name sounds too much like Osama. I kept a copy of the one that ran in "Arab News."

My fav parts:

"The mistake has caused ridicule for the county, and election officials told reporters it was “an honest mistake innocently done.”

McCain rebuked one of his own supporters for saying he was “scared ... to bring a child up” under an Obama presidency. There was a rumble of disapproval from the crowd when McCain defended his Democratic rival. “I have to tell you he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”

One woman approached McCain near the end of his give-and-take with the crowd and told him she didn’t trust Obama because “he’s an Arab.” McCain cut her off and took the microphone from her hands. “No, ma’am,” he interjected. “He is a decent family man with whom I happen to have some disagreements.”

I saw a sign that was advertising a "Fellowship of Excitement!!!" in front of a church today...

Mmmmmmm. Okay.

I think I'll opt for a Fellowship of Joy...

or even the fellowship of the ring...

but a fellowship of excitement sounds a bit.... Exhausting...

The church nearest us had "The Blessing of the Animals" on Sun. morning. That includes bringing horses into the church. I presume it was limited to domesticated animals but I don't know that much about it.

I think a service that includes aardvarks, possums, and snakes would be more interesting than just domesticated critters.

Then again, I would be absent from the more interesting one.

Stuff like blessing animals is not going on in your neighborhoods?

I'm disappointed to hear that there were apparently no pet frogs, snakes, rats, etc. in attendance.

dd said the other day, and this is quite close to verbatim:

"Mom and Dad, I don't know why you are so upset about that church because they are not a church anyway. They are a Community Gathering."

Now, dd has been to a fairly conservative (with a growing evangelical jag) church for a few years in the past and we have taken her to Summer Bible school and some church services at a conservative (Missouri synod) church (hey, the pickin's are slim). She knows what a church is and I didn't know what to say at first to her remark 'cause I certainly don't respect them as a "real" church and fail to understand why anyone does.

This isn't the serious thread but lemme ask ya this:

How important is it to you that the pastor of the church you choose to attend not be a coward?

Say family services wanted to investigate a member for child abuse and many fingers (including those of members) were pointing at that member asking family services to do something. Then the pastor says,"Can't we just let this go this time?" because the man's family is the largest financer of the school that they created and support.
Would you say, "No Way! " to attending, try to talk to them , or just ignore it and plan to attend as a non-member.

Hindsight tells me that was a really dumb question for a troll to put to other trolls! ...especially since it is a story involving a conservative Lutheran church.

The other choice, if I don't want to hang out with loones, is the Assembly of God church.

Ain't happenin'. I can go there for homeschool meetings and homeschool choir but I just can't stomach more than that.

I will make you cry in the non-serious thread yet!

You may be surprised just how often that sort of thing goes on. Sometimes it's a prominent member but sometimes it's just a spineless "pastor" unwilling to even talk with the potentially guilty person. It's also a management style I've seen in the business world - ignore anything unpleasant long enough and it will go away. But what happens is that someone else handles it or it festers until it blows up.

Leaders that think they can please everyone all the time usually end up pleasing nobody and make everybody angry at them.

Mornin' to my friends and to any enemies who are lurking around.

Just finished an awesome book.
The Final Days

Barbara Olson 1955-2001
Just two days before this book was to be printed, Barbara Olson was was killed in the hijacked airplane that was flown into the Pentagon during the terrorist attack on America. It is now published in her memory as we and her family know she would have wanted.

I ordered her book before it was it was printed and when she died, I just couldn't read it. I'm sorry I waited so long.
Now I'm going to order her other book, Hell to Pay: The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Let us not forget when Hillary runs again in Four More Years!

My! Aren't I serious today?

Sorry about that.
