Denny, I would try a youth pastor before a parent, but that's only my opinion. I was never close to my father so I may not be the best to advise you in that regard, if he is a man that recognizes the faults of others as part of the human condition. And he is compassionate, then by all means...but be honest about the stealing also. That is how come I would say a pastor or youth leader. But the very best way is to seek Gods direction in prayer. Others in this forum can also offer good advice, so maybe wait until you get a little more feed back. If your young in the Lord, you may have a hard time receiving His direction among so many other voices, conscience and otherwise.

Hello Men,
I'm Henk 46 years , 18 years living with a girl of 38 years and we both were not believers in God.
For about 3 month a neighbour came to our door and my girlfriend just lost her mother and the neighbour asked us if we wanted to go to her church, we did go with her and from that moment on we went every sunday to 2 sermons.
During the time I knew my girlfriend I was addicted to pornography and I tried several times to stop but didn't succeed, till The Lord came into my life and guided me to an organisation that gave a Course Sexual Purity,The Way Of Purity it is given by Setting Captives Free and can be followed through the internet.
They don't ask you for any money for the course.
It's a 60 day course and I have completed it and am totaly free of the sin of sexual unpurity.
The only thing you must do is believing in the power of the Lord and ask Him for his mercy and have remorse over your sin
I was very sceptic when I began to follow but now that I felt what It did for me I recommend it to anyone who has tried everything and did not succeed in stopping with looking at porn

As much as I would love to help you in your struggle against porn, I can not deliver you. I'm not God and sincerely I think only through Him or a program that He alone blesses, can you be set free. HE MUST GET ALL THE GLORY. He wants to deliver you, wants to give you the freedom. If you read my posts before, then prayer (lots of honest prayer) and His place, His time and His way is the only way. These other suggestions that brothers have made are all good.
As about restitution you only need to do that before God unless your actions have hurt someone. Like stealing..you must make that right, no ifs ands or buts about it. That goes for any sin that directly effects another person. But does "M" alone effect another person, it can if your married. No time now to get into all of that..but Denny, God is the primary source against any addictions or something He directly blesses.

I am a small group leader in a recovery program and so many men struggle with Porn and "M". Sounds like you are out of denial wrt both. Now, what to do ? Do you really believe that God cares enough about you to help you deal with this, even to help you repent and stay repented ? You've made a choice to come out of denial. Now, it's about you believing in God's grace and mercy for you. After that, it's about doing some journaling work as you investigate with prayer and bible reading why you really do this. I found myself with some emotional pain at the root of this and asked God to love me and heal me. And He did. The first piece of this is stopping the habit. It's kind of a layered problem IMHO, there's the habit, the addiction to the emotion associated with the habit, and the emotional motivation to do it. In my experience, although God was concerned about my sin of "M" and lust, He was most concerned about "laying the ax to the root" so to speak and healing my pain that drives me to do the sin associated with this. This is a process, not a discrete event. It took time for the pain to root itself and express itself in your Porn and "M", it will take time to repent and stay repented which means, healing and stopping the habit. In the end, it's a cold, hard choice for you.
One other thing... shockingly, I came to the conclusion in myself, and other men have to, that somehow, somewhere along the way, I decided that women were objects. Objects that existed to help me cope with my pain. This took form in my fantasy's about them where I did "M". Women were actually NOT created to play out this role. They were created to be loved, respected and cherished.... men were created for the same purpose. We find the root of these things in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. That is what God does for us... He cherishes and loves us and respects us enough to allow us to make our own decision about Him as to whether we will have this kind of relationship with Him or not. I found that I could actually find emotional, mental and spiritual intimacy with God in prayer, journaling and bible reading. I say all this to say that true intimacy, respect, love and the ability to cherish a woman is only found when intimacy is found this way. It's a totally healing experience with God via His love, grace, mercy and power....
I found this @ Celebrate Recovery..... it is there where I learned these things and how to have true friends and fellowship with men who are believers what are as honest as this. The bible says, confess your sins one to another that you may be healed. I found a mentor whom I could trust and an accountability network of caring male friends where I could actually confess my sins and find healing in that place. Thus there was honesty there..... I pray you can find the same for your life..... God is faithful. blessings, rofaith

Repentance (continious turning from sin) is your next step and it comes with a life long race.
From a brother that struggled almost as much as you did with this, It took me till I was 26 for God to break the yolk of slavery that this Sin had on my life.
I believe the brokeness you experienced over your sin is a sign of true regeneration and salvation in your life. You are showing the fruits of your salvation!!!

From experience, you must ask Christ to make you sick of it. He will.
Not unless you, of course develop a strategy for a "replacement habit".
Also, socially speaking M and looking at porn is just a symptom of a deeper
prob. not a problem in itself.

I am 48, single and anyone that wants to make THAT an issue, is probably doing something 50 times more abominable! (sin is sin)
