I've been caffiene free since 1982, so I'm afraid I don't remember caffiene buzzes. I'm not missing anything, I'm sure! Caffiene increases muscle tightness, so it's not a good mix with Cerebral Palsy. I drink decaf, and never more than five ounces a day. Trish, the baby's due April 25. They don't want to know the gender till he or she is born. Goodness, I haven't updated my blog in almost two weeks! If people actually read it, I should probably think of an update for it. I thought we'd be going to Longfellow's house either last week or this week, which would have given me subject matter. But that's not going to happen, from the looks of things. Boston Center for Independent Living is supposed to send out a nurse to recertify John's elegibility for Personal Care Attendant services, and we're stuck here waiting for her to call. So, I'm not sure what to blog about.

Yay! You don't want to waste any nice fall days. Now you'll have something to write about so we can share your adventures.

Many subjects, one reply Facebook: I have Facebook and a Blogspot blog. See my sig for the blog. I got started on Facebook because the online game I play (see the other link in my sig) has a group on there, the AotC Addicts. I even use my avatar here for my portrait image! If you want to find me, search for Ron Hatfield. (not my real last name, but good enough for those online. Not that I don't trust my friends here, but YOU aren't the only people who read message boards, be they Christian or not--"gentle as doves, wise as serpents.") On the issue of churches losing sight of the depth that can be found in God's Word if we simply take a moment and delve it, I can totally understand. I grew up in the Episcopal church and it wasn't uncommon for the priest to get through an entire sermon and not mention any specific verses at all. As great an author as C.S. Lewis is, I don't think he would appreciate an entire sermon dedicated to The Screwtape Letters. The issue of caffeine; yeah Deb, I can see how that could give you issues. I on the other hand, even at the ripe old age of forty-(mumble-mumble) can usually drink full strength and still sleep. Something tells me though that this will not be the case indefinitely, so I enjoy my bean juice while I can. As for adventures to share in your blog, I am amazed at the lengths some people with disabilities are forced to go through in different states just to receive the services they need. At one extreme, we were once acquainted with a lady in our first apartment complex who had moved to Indiana from California. Her family was in Indiana, and she had moved because they kept saying how they missed her so and how they would happily do whatever she needed to be able to stay here. She got to Indiana, got moved in ... then spent most of a year getting the needed paper work to get on Indiana's Medicaid program. (it took my DW Beth several months, and then she had to file an appeal. You'd think being confined to a wheelchair would be sufficient proof of disability. Not in Indiana.) Our friend finally got everything all set. With Multiple Sclerosis, she didn't always use a wheelchair, but she also didn't get out of the house much. About the only time her family came by to visit was when her kids needed money. After all the trouble she'd gone through to get home to Indiana, with her family seemingly ignoring her, she finally said enough and moved back to California, where she told us one day that you just show up in a MediCal (California's medicaid) office, show your disability and prove your resident status...you're all set! Something tells me Massachusetts falls somewhere between those extremes.

Mom has to prove her disability every 2 years here in SC. I'm like "Hello! She ain't getting no better!". Its a pain because she has to get the doctors to do all kinds of paperwork and that's like pulling teeth.

April's a good month to be born. I haven't had a disability assessment in ages. I don't know when my next one will be. In any case, I should be safe. The last time I was assessed, I didn't have fibromyalgia. One would think with that being added to my list of medical problems, I shouldn't have a problem getting it.

Sounds like a great belated birthday celebration. I love the picture of you and John in front of the house.

I'm glad you had a good time at the Longfellow home......I'm drooling....I love historic places, and I like literature...so the whole thing would be right up my alley.

She and the bridesmaids all got clothes they could wear "in real life." I had planned to do that as well (and now I wish I had, in some ways), but I realized I really wanted a gown. A friend had bought her daughter a wedding gown 18 years earlier, but the daughter eloped...so the friend gave it to me! That was so thoughtful of you...I was maid of honor in my best friend's wedding about, I think, 5 years back now. We didn't get "in real life," clothes, but she did something equally thoughtful. She picked the fabric, but let us each pick our own pattern..so we could each wear something tailored to our own size and shape.

I should think South Carolina would have some historic ante-bellum homes, Terri. Try some online searches.

Just about everything around here has started charging. I guess I should post about Don's and my courtship in my thread. We made many memories in a short year or so. Also, while the boys were small, we tried to give them memories. He can no longer drive either, Now, it's impossible to get Greene Cats to go into Dayton, other than for doctor appointments. So many folks have started using the bus to work and such. They also contract to take the disabled to work. It's difficult for a small county to keep up.

I'm sorry, Marsha. I admit, Boston has more to offer than most areas. I hope I'm not flaunting it, but I believe my blog should reflect the things God gives me. Did you know that you, because you're disabled, can get a pass from the National Park Service (at no charge) that would allow you and up to eight guests free admissions to National Parks? Because of George Washington, Longfellow House is a National Park, so we visited for free.

That's a virtual treasure trove of historic sites/things to see. I know because I lived there for 5 years. And I think South Carolina is a small enough state, that a drive there shouldn't be too bad.
