Too bad you have to do that. Sounds like it might work though.

You'll do well, John. I'll admit, though: I prefer going through a book of the Bible verse-by-verse.

Merv got a compliment on his teaching today. One of the regulars in our class is teaching 5th and 6th grade, so she's not able to be with us right now. I told her we missed her and she said she misses the class too. She said she's really enjoyed the in depth Bible study. Sometimes it's hard to tell what people are thinking, so it was nice to hear that. He works us pretty hard in that class and we weren't sure if folks were thinking it was too much.

I think people are hungry for the Word rather than the feel-good, pop psychology, experience-oriented pablum that's out there these days. That's why people appreciate teachers like Merv and John. So much of Christian teaching treats Scripture as merely a springboard for topics, instead of delving into the Bible itself. Very sad. We've forgotten what a rich treasure God's Word is!

Amen to that Deb! God's Word is indeed a treasure, and we'll never be able to learn all there is from it.

YAY, DebbieLynne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so cool! And I understand it being close to grandkids for you! The two to whom I'm an aunt are like my own to me..and so their kids would be special to me too (that day is afar off, they are young....I'm just saying)..there has been times I've been very glad I didn't have kids of my own, so that I could put so much into those two.

Me either. Someday, but my boys aren't ready now.

I'm in no rush for my 18-year-old niece to be a mommy, but the one who's expecting is 31. And my 92-year-old mom really should have a great-grandchild, I think. Naturally, she's thrilled!

Even though our church is in the next town, there's no direct bus. We'd have to go to Quincy, and get a connecting bus to church. A two-hour trip to a church four miles away. We've done it twice, but it's not fun.
