I had one up past Valentine's Day once. Just got busy, and it became like part of the furniture! (I think we may have even hung hearts on it!) Anyone have a great "Past New Years" story? Some folks leave them up until a loved one returns from service or the hospital or such.

We left ours up this year until June or July. It was an artificial tree and I didn't want to have to break it down and keep all the different size branches organized. Even left the lights on it. We stashed it in the spare room where the computer is. Had more stuff to stash in the summer so we needed the room, so away it went.

Gonna get a fresh cut tree this year.

Our main tree is always up from before Thanksgiving until late January. The tree in my bedroom will go up first, but comes down a bit earlier. I've had 4 trees in the house on average with several decorated outside, too.

Can you TELL I love Christmas?

The longest I think I had one up was the year my youngest was born. I put it up the first week of December, after the 5th as always, BUT baby was born on the 17th and we didn't make it home til late on the 19th. I think the tree was up until after Valentine's day, as it was just a little table top model as we didn't have the space for a larger one. I just wasn't able to find the time to take it down. Since then tho and after moving to larger accommodations we've had a real tree and those have to get out of my home shortly after the 1st of the year or limbs start dropping needles and things get messy. If we had an artificial I'm pretty certain I would leave it up longer.

There was one year that I put the tree up the weekend after the 5th and took it down Christmas Day. We were leaving for two weeks to Minnesota early the next morning and I really didn't want to come home to a big mess.

This year I'm just hoping the cat stays out of it and doesn't break anything.

blessings,

Garsy

I used to have a cat who sat under the tree all innocent like and then she'd take a whack at an ornament and send it flying across the room. When we went to tell her "no" she'd look as us like....ornament? What ornament? I don't know what you're talking about. She'd wait awhile and launch another one. Having cats is one of the reasons we don't have a real tree. Oh, but, our current cats....they climb fake trees anyway...

We learned long ago not to put any important ornaments at cat batting practice height or dog wagging tail height.

Just after Valentines Day for me. When Valentines came around I realized just how late it was! It went down the weekend after.

I think that the longest my family had it up was near the beginning of December until after January 7th.

I have a friend that left hers up for 15 years. Once she got the tree up & decorated she just left it. It was in the living room & the only time they used the room was at CHRISTmas. Only reason it came down when it did was she moved to a new condo.

My dad has a small tabletop tree in his office that he keeps all year - he changes the ornaments on it per season/holiday, i.e. hearts and chocolates for Valentines, flags for July 4th, office supplies for September (school), etc.

Seven years.

We got a good deal at a "Fantasy of Trees" event and purchased a large, fully decorated artificial tree for less than the tree would have cost at a store. They even delivered it and set it up. The plastic cover rolled up and fit under the tree skirt.

We took off the ornaments that we didn't want (child oriented) and Mrs. K decorated her classroom tree with them. We added out favorite ornaments. When Christmas was over we took our ornaments off, pulled up the plastic and rolled the tree into the garage.

Would still be using it if the cats hadn't bent so many branches.

The longest we have left a tree in the house is the end of February. Mrs. K is in charge of the timing. Sometimes she wants it down on Jan. 2, sometimes much later.
