Okay, guys--ya'll did such a wonderful job helping me get the perfect cordless drill (a Milwaukee, iirc) for Himself that I am coming back for more advice.

He wants a Scroller Saw. Or what used to be called a scroller saw, maybe--he isn't sure if they call hem that now because he looked for one and can't find it.

Any ideas on what to get--and what brand?

He wouldn't use this as much as he uses drills and chainsaws, but a fair amount.

Click me!!

Not sure if this is what he's looking for but this sight seems to have a lot of info on the hobby.

Here's a comparison of some different saws...

Of course since I'm an aged old fashioned kinda guy I like the coping saw. More of a challenge.

Thanks, guys!

Hmmm...looking at the comparison chart makes me think that what he wants is no longer called a scroller saw.

The blade seems to be the same, but his is hand-held. He was using it to cut a circular opening in the side of the house when it gave up the ghost.

Any idea what it might be called now?

It would be a scrolling saber saw.

An example

It's like a saber saw (or jig saw) but the blade can be turned making it easier to cut circles and intricate designs.

That *does* look like it, John! Thank you!

Row--it says "scroller saw" on it--that is where I got that. It is an old Craftsman.

Sold a Ryobi scroll saw the other day. One thing you learn quickly in the tool business is that there are more than one name for the same tool. Unfortunately some are just brand names.
