Pray for the peace of Jerusalem comes from Psalm 122, one of the songs of ascent. These songs were sung as the pilgrims journeyed to Jerusalem for worship. After praying this psalm this morning, I wanted to share my understanding of what it means to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. So I will share my insights and look forward to yours as well. Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is: praying for the Prince of Peace to rule within the hearts of those who are His. praying for those who love Jesus to be bound together in His love and live in peace with one another. praying for the soul prosperity of those who love Jesus. praying for the prosperity in ALL ways for those who love Jesus. praying for the return of the Prince of Peace. praying for the unity of His church throughout the world. praying for peace to be the defining characteristic of those who are His. praying for my love to abound to all and especially to those who are His. And let the peace of Christ rule, act as arbiter, in your hearts to which indeed you were called in one body. . . Colossians 3:15 Your thoughts? Your prayers? Bless ya, LL

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem for me means to pray God's will be done.

Jerusalem is a specific city in a specific place, in a specific time. When one sincerely prays for the peace of Jerusalem, that one is praying for Messiah to come and reign in that specific place and there is no way for there to be peace in Jerusalem without the Prince of Peace reigning there in real time. Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is praying for Messiah to reign on earth. It is praying for Him to take up His throne on earth! Only when all of Israel understands that He is the Messiah, that He is the one who bore our sins, that the scars in His hands and feet were those He received in the house of His friends. This will happen. I pray it will be in my lifetime. In order to understand this prayer -- the one for the peace of Jerusalem -- one must fully understand who ALL of Israel is!

I can dig it. After all, as Paul, John, and Josephus all make clear, the earthly Jerusalem is the accursed city that slaughtered God's emissary, God's Son -- and reaped (past tense) the consequences. The New Jerusalem, the new people of God, is the dwelling place of the Heavenly King. When we pray for the peace of the Jerusalem that matters, we invoke God's favor upon the people who bless, rather than curse, the name of Jesus.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is all nice a good but why not pray for the peace of India, Pakistan, North and South Korea, Mongolia, China, the Philippines, Jamaica, various African nations.

I do pray for all of the above, when I ask God to prosper the Real Jerusalem, the Jerusalem That Matters, the Heavenly Jerusalem, His people who serve Him in all of those countries. Our church already has a man on the ground in South Korea who has contacts in North Korea and China, who anticipates seeing "the wall come down" in that part of the world. May God grant that we'll be ready when He presents us with nations hungry for the gospel, eager to become part of God's Jerusalem. Psalm 2:8.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is praying for the return of the Prince of Peace, Who is the world's ONLY source of true peace. Praying for peace in any other way is the superficial peace, peace, but there is no peace that the prophet Jeremiah speaks of. So, yes, we need to pray for the coming of the Prince of Peace and then peace will reign in India, Pakistan, Korea, Mongolia, China, the Philippines, Jamaica, Africa and everywhere in world.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is praying for the return of the Prince of Peace, Who is the world's ONLY source of true peace. He is already reigning from heaven through His servants here on earth (See I Cor. 15:15-30). As people, families, and nations come under our Lord's suave yoke, His glory shines forth, and His peace spreads abroad. As an old hymn (translated from German) goes, Thy reign extend, O King benign To every land and nation. For in Thy Kingdom, Lord divine, Alone we find salvation. Yes, I look forward to the Second Coming, the Resurrection of the Body, and life everlasting, Amen. MEANWHILE -- we can "expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God." The glorious good news that offers the nations joy is -- our God reigns! And as His people, His Jerusalem, enjoy peace, they can bless their neighbors. It's quite a show -- even the angels are amazed at what God is doing with His people, century after century. I like to praise my God and encourage His people. Is that a problem?

I have been praying for the peace of Jerusalem since I was a little kid. My dad made it a part of all our prayers.

All believers should pray for the peace of Israel. Remember, the church does not replace Israel. In fact, the Bible doesn't really teach that we are the Bride. If the Church, the Body of Christ was identified as the Bride of Christ in Scripture, then we would not have the legal right to take on His identity or be considered one with Him. If we were only a bride, we would not even have the legal rright to use His name until after the marriage took place. The scripptures plainly reveal He has already given us His Name to use ( John 16:23-26; Mark 16:17, 18). I rest my case. Peace, Golfjack

When all the other nations of the earth rejoice to pledge allegiance to Jesus Christ, Israel will finally, out of envy, break away from their 2000-year pout, and get with the program. He is ruling now, and that is good news. Those who publicly operate under the protection and jurisdiction of the King are His agents in the extension of His Kingdom. It's going on now, and it's glorious to sit at the King's table, eat His food, wear His uniform, and see to His interests in all of our varied duty postings.
