During my prayer time concerning the New Year, I felt like the Lord stressed to pray for the Christians in India in 2008. It was a very urgent burden. It was as though they are petitioning God for help and for prayer cover.

I had a dream of sorts where several men were standing behind me introducing me to a group of people from India. They (the people of India) stood on what seemed to be a platform in front of me. Suddenly one of the women on the platform walked over to me, bent down, and handed me an embroidered paper bookmark. She smiled warmly, looking deeply into my eyes, and then turned and was seated with the others on benches all around the platform. Just then the entire platform pulled away and I realized that they were in the back of a large military truck.

The woman was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, but all I remember was her smile and her dress in the traditional garments of India (the color was like copper mixed with gold and trimmed in gem tones). I felt a great love for her and a connection of sorts, as though it was an honor or privilege to have met her. She said nothing the entire time, but as the truck pulled away I looked down at the bookmark in my hand. It was of the last supper. And instantly I understood that they were Christians who were being persecuted for their faith. She was giving me the bookmark to let me know that she was a believer and to ask me to pray for her and her people.

I don't know what it all means, but it moves me to tears each time I think of her and her people. Please agree with me in prayer for the Christians in India during 2008. I know nothing of their country but I am desperately trying to learn more now. And I am seeking out newsletters from missionaries in that region to try to learn how to pray more specifically for their needs day to day.

Lord, you see your people in the nation of India in this moment. You know the things that the enemy has planned to use to attack and to discourage them. Lord we speak against every plan of the enemy. We ask that you would perform miracles to protect your people in India. That you would let them know that they are not alone, they are not forgotten. Let them know that their brothers and sisters are interceding for them, and that you are working on their behalf to fulfill every promise that you have made to them.

Encourage their hearts, heal their hurts, give them beauty for ashes and joy unspeakable. Glory Lord as only you can. Watch over their families. Keep the hearts and well being of their children in the palm of your hand. Guide them and open doors for them on every side... in the face of every obstacle make a way.

Bless them Lord beyond measure. Let their testimony and their strength bring you great praise. Give them confidence and increase their Faith. Keep them from fear and pour great courage into their hearts, even into the hearts of their children. Father let everything the enemy does to try to discourage them only encourage them to know that you are very present. Let them feel your arms around them, let them see your angels walking among them and encamped throughout their homes and communities. Be their shelter, be their provider. May they know and understand your great love for them as never before.

Whatever their fears, their concerns, their struggles, their heartaches, their deepest needs... Father hear their prayers and give them miracles. I have no idea what they face each day, but you see them Lord. Be their help. Be their hope. We thank you that you have heard before we have even asked. We thank you Jesus that you will never leave them nor forsake them. We thank you for the many miracles that you have planned and are performing even now on their behalf.

In the name of Jesus our Lord, the Almighty God, now and forever <3
Amen

Lord Jesus, Lord of All,

I thank you that down through the ages there have been those who have accepted persecution and suffering for your name. Their testimony speaks loudly to many people. Their words have reached out to many who would have been lost otherwise. It is on the blood of many martyrs that your church is built. How many people have suffered and died through the ages that I may know you today. How such thoughts humble me.

But strangely enough, the message from the persecuted church around the world is to praise God for such sufferings, not to ask to be delivered from them. Their prayer is to be found worthy to follow Christ in the way. I think of the example of countless Christians from China who consider persecutions have strengthened their faith and deepened their knowledge of God. Who am I to disagree?

So, Father if persecution and suffering is to befall your people in India, let us be silent before your majesty and pause before your greatness. For this means that you have great plans for that needy nation; that you have heard the cries of many for that land. We add our voices to that throng and plead for your kingdom to come.

I pray for each one who is already suffering for Christ over there. I pray that each beating, each blow, each new pain would bear fruit one hundredfold, in the lives of the persecuted, the torturer and all the witnesses.

How long O Lord, will this bitter world survive? How long will we continue to endure this misery? How much more pain is to come? How many more horrors can be thrown at us? Surely you will end it all and wrap it all in glory. Till then, I pray for the patient endurance of the saints.

Amen

We agree together for your people in India, Lord, our family.
Remind them today that they are not alone. Open doors for the Gospel and pour out miracles if necessary and draw the lost in that region to the love of Christ.

Amen

Father,

In Jesus' name we pray for Your mercy on the people of India. Draw them to You in wonderful ways that will glorify You. Bless those who have accepted You and bless the others in ways that will be better than all that we ask. Thank You. Amen.

Father, I thank you for those that are living and serving in India long term. Bless them and provide for their ministry to bless many. Meet every physical need, heal the sick, provide food and basic necessities, make a way for the schools and children's homes to receive the materials they need, open doors for the Gospel to be preached.

Send your angels to encamp around them, to walk among them, to ensure that your perfect will be performed in every area of their life... the missionaries, the people of India, the children, the leaders of that nation, and the Christians that are on the front lines who are enduring great persecution and extreme sacrifice.

Remember their families at home and in India. Guard and protect and bless the families and homes of the Christians in India. Let your presence be known and let your peace be felt. When those opposed to Christianity, opposed to you Lord, approach your people -- let a peace come over them, let them become confused and as lambs whenever they approach to cause your people harm. Quiet every conflict, unravel every plan of the enemy, and cause every enemy of the Gospel to stop in their tracks and to return to where ever they came from.

Keep a cloud around your people and the places of ministry, so that anyone who approaches that does not know you, would find their thoughts in a fog and their animosity toward your people forgotten.

Miracles, peace, safety, provision... you are the Almighty God and we know that you are able.
In the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Father, I pray for the Believers that are in India. Let them know that you are remembering them today and always, and that you are very present to meet their needs. If they are hungry, provide food some how. If they are needing shelter or clothing, we ask that you would give them a place to rest and good clothes to cover themselves. If they are kept from hearing/reading your word, then provide a Bible in their language or a portion of Scripture for them to be encouraged by or someone to remind/teach them about the plan of God for their life... a plan to bless them because they are greatly loved.

Walk with them today Lord.
Amen.

Thank you Jesus you have given selahgirl a dream to be birthed into the earth. Thank you Lord, you have opened her eyes to see the truth about your children in India. Praise God selahgirl responded to this calling. Father, protect her as she proceeds with this vision and it is interpreted for her in a prophetic way. Give her the divine interpretation of this dream so she can follow your heart and make deciples in the world.

Jesus, be with your children in India. Protect them and give them the faith like no other. Jesus, embrace them with love and the freedom to dance before you like David danced. Give them the peace that passes all understanding even in the face of the enemy and laugh as you dance with them. Open up the heavens and pour down your rain upon them so they can feel your touch upon their face. Give them the best security in heaven. Praise God! Give them a chance to spread the gospel in India. Jesus, may your hand of protection be upon my brothers and sisters of your body in India. Praise God!

Thank you for the prayer of protection upon India and all those who dwell with in that land in Jesus name. Amen.

Selahgirl, it is funny how you had this dream. God put India on my heart and I prayed for the people of the nation a few days ago. Praise God.

Thank you Lord for this prayer of Joy. We agree with our whole heart that you would lift the darkness and shine your light and your warmth upon the people of India. Let them dance, let them laugh, let them know your joy to the fullest. Amen

Walkinpeace, thank you for such wonderful confirmation. It has amazed me that God is speaking so much about India to so many people during this New Year. A friend I haven't seen in a while that works with a Ministry to Messianic Jews sent me an article from a study they are currently doing about the Lost Tribes of Israel. They were just discussing India and a tribe of Christian believers there. Israel will not claim them as Jewish, and India Militia are persecuting them. They are being pressed from several sides and several people groups.

Also, one of the teens that I know in a different state just informed me last night that she did some ministry work in India this past summer. I hadn't even mentioned any of this. So I have asked her to share some of her heart for the people there, and what the social climate was like. I will post her response here if I can.

And ^_^
Another friend that I haven't seen in a very long time just informed me that her daughter recently set out on a two year stay in India as a missionary. I love local connections, and was praying God would guide me to a missionary that I knew personally in some way. Never dreamed it would be this close of a connection. I am hoping her or her family will be able to post some updates here on this thread as well.

Thanks to all for confirming and agreeing in prayer. We are family, and it is so good to pray with you. There is a power that is loosed when we agree like this. Blessings over your families. May the Lord meet your deepest needs in ways you never expected, in ways that overwhelm you with the realization of how much he loves you. Amen <3

Coming from someone that's been there, another HUGE area for prayer is to open the people's eyes to their own spiritual blindness. It's not like here in America. Their idols are EVERYWHERE! You can feel the darkness surrounding the whole land. Please, please, please pray that the power of Satan, through these idols, would be diminished.

Also, pray for the safety of the missionaries there. It's not easy. We were on strict orders not to use the word missionary because it has bad imagery assosiated with it there. The missionaries we worked with have some children that I love immensely, so pray for them please.

One more things, a lot of "Christians" in India don't really have a personal relationship with God. They are raised in the Christian population and don't realize that being raised in the church does not make them a Christian.

If there's anything else y'all would like to know about India, let me know. I will help out as much as I can. One of my good friends is actually engaged to an Indian pastor and if I don't know something, I'm sure she does. God bless all who pray for this country. God has big plans for India. (PiP)

Here is some info posted by the teen I mentioned, who goes by the name PiP. It gives some very specific things to cover in prayer and leaves you with a sense of the spiritual climate in that area. Please cover these needs and these beautiful people... as well as this teen that has such a heart for the people of India.

Thank you Lord that you are at work before we even ask. Thank you for the heart-felt compassion of this teen and the love of the family she mentioned that is ministering long term in that region. Watch over their children and guard them spiritually and physically as their parents serve you Lord.

I pray for this pastor friend and his fiance, that you would bless their relationship. That you would open doors for them to meet the needs of the people in India in every way, especially in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We thank you Lord for your constant care and your loving kindness. You are our shield and our God. Amen

Father, let your presence be felt in India today. Let your people there be full of courage and refreshing. Remember their needs, physical and spiritual, and let your word be spoken into their hearts and minds. Lord, I pray that you would camp your angels around their homes, and around their vehicles and modes of transportation. I pray that you would open up lines of communication that would allow relationships to be strengthened and developed to further the Gospel and to bless your people there.

Lord, at every altar in India that does not honor you, post an angel to quiet the evil that dwells there. Let the influence of it become very small and not effective, and let your Spirit draw all men to you. Make a way, somehow, for everyone that passes by the many idols to somehow think of Jesus Christ. Make a way, somehow, for them to understand his kindness and love for them. With every attempt of the enemy to draw hearts away from you in India, let your Grace be poured out in a greater measure so that REVIVAL would consume that nation.

Bring it Lord, as only you can.

Today is the day of salvation in India. Right now. Empower your people that are there. Use even those that do not know you to perform your will. Remove all animosity and hatred for the Christians that are being persecuted there. When their captors or attackers approach them, let their anger and rage mysteriously leave them. Quiet them, and occupy them with other things instead of bringing harm to your people.

Bring change to India Lord.
Bring deliverance and Light and Freedom in Christ.
In the name of Jesus, we agree together for these things.

Amen.

I'm glad you've started this thread Selahgirl. India has been on my heart for many years, probably because we have had Indian friends growing up and my brother (now with the Lord) lived there for awhile. Last night we watched a video I'd bought months ago at Salvation Army on evangelism in India..a potentially dangerous thing I know although they didn't talk about that in the video; I think it was made at least a few years ago. Anyways if you want to know more about the intellectual/spiritual flavor of India, there's a great website that I found years ago which to me is fascinating:

http://www.appiusforum.com/issues_for_christians.html

Scroll to the bottom to find topics that might interest you, but I would recommend you read "Is Conversion Violence on Hindus and Hinduism?" to understand the mindset of many of those justifying persecution against Christians in India today. I also want to include a snippet from one of the articles:

"Recent research reveals that Sanskrit was formed after 1st c. A.D. Hence, the doctrines such as the avatar of God, the incarnation of Jesus Christ, and others found in Sanskrit literature belong to the post - Christian era...."

This is extremely important for people in India to know because they (and others who are aggressively non-Christian in the west) often claim we 'borrowed' our faith/religion from some of India's sacred texts. India actually has a long history with Christianity-- there is evidence that St. Thomas settled/evangelized there for instance-- they just don't seem to be aware of this.

Anyways God bless you and thanks again for starting this thread; praying in agreement with you for souls in India to turn toward Christ.

Thank you Casey. There is so much that you have shared that I will be giving much thought and prayer to. I bookmarked the site about India and printed off the article you mentioned along with some others to read through the week end.

I have also heard some teaching among Christian circles lately about the Bible and elements of the Christian faith as being mere myths and stories borrowed from ancient pagan cultures. It has concerned me, especially since it is coming from areas and people within the mainline church. The end times are prophesied as being a time of great deception, even in Revelation frogs (lies) are depicted as coming from peoples mouths. It is essential that we seek God for His Truth, and that we teach a generation to do the same rather than following the Titles of Men and Trendy Philosophies. The Sword that comes from the mouth of Christ is the Sword of the Spirit -- the Word of God, the Bible. I am fearful for those Christians that have adopted the teaching of calling it a book of myths or mere stories authored by men.

It is a crucial hour of the church, and prayer as always remains the key for direction and for ministry. Much love to you Casey, and thank you for agreeing with us for the people of India to know Christ. I am not a person of the world, I'm terrible at geography and history, but God has put India in the heart of many for some reason, including mine. Right now, I'm just learning where in the world it is and what it's major cities are :o)

Father, thank you for the wisdom and insight of such people as Casey. Raise up the voices that know this region and speak thru them to bring direction as we pray for this nation. Bless the missionaries of the past that have lived in that land and tilled the ground. Anoint every seed that they planted, bring life to each one, and let fruit come forth from healthy vines at this time of harvest.

Guard those that are tending the work in India. Speak to their hearts. Give them wisdom concerning which doors to walk thru, which road to take, how to accomplish the seemingly impossible, when to remain still, when to remain silent, when to go with what has worked in the past, and when to be bold and fearless in creative and shocking ways. Guide them in ministry for your Glory Lord. Help them to speak directly to the heart of every person they encounter in India, so that your Spirit might draw them into personal relationship with Christ.

Thank you Father for sending your son and making a way for each of us to know you.
Thank you Lord for setting the example and interceding on our behalf.
Come Holy Spirit and walk us thru this, we give you great praise and many thanks.

Amen

If you know your church history, you will know of the story of the church in North Africa. At one time it was considered the strongest church covering vast swathes of land along the North African Coast (in the centuries after Christ). But that church was theologically weak. Suddenly, a great persecution arose and it could not stand. That church was destroyed by persecution and is no more.

You are right to be fearful for those Christians who have adopted false teachings because they will not be able to stand under persecution. Maybe God needs to purify his church in this way, for there are many who use the name Christian for social reasons, not because they know Jesus. Such people are not true Christians and they will disown Christ when forced to. But true Christians will never disown him. Their light will shine out and challenge all others.

I was talking to someone today from India. They said that there had been 100 deaths of Christians by persecution in one place. The persecution has started. I pointed out that this thread existed and encouraged them to contribute to it because we would love to hear more.

I'm glad it's of benefit to you Selahgirl. Please pray if you would that those in their ministry will be kept safe.

How horrible. Why that is not in the media, one can only wonder. Well persecution has been going on (to some extent) for awhile, but it's my impression it has gotten worse lately. The martyrdom of Graham Staines and his sons is probably the most famous, back in '99. (That and some other stories of persecution are on the site I referenced too.) Anyways I'm glad you asked your friend to contribute and I hope he/she does.

Lord I thank you for powerfully answering the prayers of your people. Thank you for all that you are doing in India right now, for the angels that you have sent forth to protect the Christians there and to minister to their needs. Thank you Lord for provision and for joy and for peace of mind. Thank you that your presence can be felt in that region and that you are walking among them even now, this moment, as they live and breathe wherever they are, whatever they are experiencing, YOU ARE THERE <3

Keep them once again in the palm of your hand today, in the center of your perfect will. Continue to let them shine in the darkness, increase their strength and faith and refreshing even more. Turn it up Lord, so that Great Revival spreads like wild fire in India. Rain down your Spirit into every heart and every life and every family, and draw men women and children to you Jesus.

Calm the fears of those in positions of authority. Expose the lies and misconceptions about you and about the Christian faith. Let them understand the peace and kindness and goodness that Christianity desires to bring to the their communities and their cities. Let it be evident that Faith in Jesus Christ will be a balm to the hurts of their people and their nation, and it will help to calm much of the strife among their tribes and factions.

Bless the children of India today Lord. A special blessing. Provide for their basic needs, and then give them something extra special today that will delight them and warm their heart. And let them know somehow that it is from you Lord, from God, because you want them to know how much you love them and you want good things for them. Plant the seeds in their hearts Lord, so that right now and throughout their adult life they will have a passion to love God and to love People as much as you Lord.

Touch their minds and thoughts, to focus on the good, to absorb their academic studies, and to look ahead with hope in their hearts and songs of praise on their lips. Help them to not be afraid. Help them to lead other children and even adults, to be courageous and to be lovers of Christ.

Thank you Jesus that you have heard and that our God has answered.
No matter what we see or hear, we know that you are the giver of good things and nothing will stop your blessings from being poured out upon those that believe in you.
Amen

Father, you are gracious and compassionate and we praise you. I lift up the missionaries, and all the Christians of India. You know the things that weigh heavy on their heart. You know the areas of weakness that they struggle with and have failed in in some way. They are human like all people, and we are all in need of examining our hearts. Convict them of any sin they may have failed to confess, cleanse them, and help them deal with anything that they may be unable to confess even to themselves.

Let your kindness lead them to repentance as is your custom Lord. Wash them and assure their hearts that they are forgiven and set free from that sin. The enemy and often the people around us will remind us of our failures to try to bring condemnation. But when it is brought before you, you see no stain upon their character. You wash us whiter than snow from the moment we confess our faith in who Jesus Christ is, you erase the curses and offenses of our past, and you never hold them against us again. You choose to remember your love for us and Christ crucified only.

Let the conviction of your Holy Spirit and the power of your Word cause the people of India to bring their failures and messes and weakness to you. And set them free in the name of Jesus. Totally and completely forgiven and set free, saved from judgment.

5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
(I John 1:5-10)

The Word of God is true every day. No matter what we face in life. No matter how strong we are in our walk or how weak we can be at times. If we will seek him and talk with him and reason together with him about it all, he will keep us whiter than snow, clean and forgiven and more and more like him. There is no ritual, there is only a request for forgiveness that we must speak, and it is done. Now, go and sin no more. Pick up your cross and continue to follow him.

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. (Rom 8:1-3)

Father, thank you for the refreshing and the freedom that you give to the believers in India daily. Thank you that in their humanity, you will never turn them away or give up on them or cease to welcome them as your child. Empower them today, Refresh them, Open doors to them so that they may go and teach others your truth in India -- and where ever you may send them to minister.

It is another day, there are needs in their lives once again, and you see exactly what those needs are. Bless them, guide them, rejoice in them, encourage them in every area of their lives. Keep your hedge of protection around them, carry them close to your heart. Silence the voices that would speak against them, Unravel the attacks that the enemy may try to bring against them... bring salvation to India, let them know that God loves them and that they are precious to you.

In the name of Jesus, we give you Thanks Father.
Amen.

Father, your people are crying out in India. Persecution is great and increasing. We join our voices with theirs that you would intervene on their behalf. Bring your peace to their hearts and minds Lord, comfort their hurts whether emotional or physical. Deliver them from all evil and from all those who lash out at them. Protect them Lord and break apart every plan of the enemy that attempts to bring them harm. Cause every curse to be replaced by a blessing. Let your favor rest upon them, great favor with God and Man.

Be with the children in the Christian schools and children's homes. Help them to focus on their studies. Provide for their basic needs this day and for all the materials they need to receive a good and Godly education. Thank you Lord. Be with their families. Make a way for them to keep in touch and to have as much time together as possible. Reunite and restore homes and families that may have been broken apart. Give family and homes and people to love them to children that are orphaned or abandoned in India. Send someone to love them as you love them. Someone that will find a way to provide for them and to let them know how much you love them.

Talk to the children in their hearts Lord, as only you can do. Encourage them and let them know
