I thought this article was incredibly interesting. Apparently Newsweek had two teams of journalists embedded with the Obama and McCain campaigns in order to produce a report, with the understanding that the report would not see the light until after the election. Now that the election is over, they can release some of the information that they couldn't before (the full report won't be released until a few days). There's quite a bit of new information revealed in terms of strategy and the like, as well as other tid bits about the behind the scenes nature of some of the campaign's bigger moments. The most interesting pieces: -Obama never intended to have Hilary as VP (mainly because of Bill), while the McCain camp was incredibly relieved when she wasn't chosen (they thought she'd be a more formidable opponent than Biden). -Hilary was much more friendly with McCain than she let on in her democratic convention speech (indeed, friendlier with McCain than Obama), and apparently shared a long phone conversation with him after losing the primaries. -Some rather candid comments from Obama on "dumb" debate questions (complete with swears!) -More on Palin's spending spree on clothes for herself and her family. Apparently McCain himself authorized her to buy three suites, and wasn't privy to what was going on, even as her behavior was angering many of his aides (one McCain aide characterized it as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast"). -The McCain camp claims that Palin jumped the gun on Ayers a week before they had their strategy of attacking Obama on that issue mapped out. -Palin asked to speak at McCain's concession last night, but Steve Schmidt vetoed it. http://www.newsweek.com/id/167581/output/print I can't wait to read the whole thing.

Interesting post. Have you read a somewhat, similar Newsweek article by Jon Meacham, describing the what-ifs of an Obama presidency, governing a traditionally center-right nation?
