Are these two saynigs tree in your experience? I know they are generalities, but do they follow Biblical truths/wisdom? Do you see these concepts in your relationships and friendships (and those of others) in every day life?

I'd have to say that I'm an apple who fell very far away from the tree, probably because a flock of birds were trying to carry me away :P
I'm nothing like my family-- at all. Even my extended relatives have commented that I am nothing like them at all, for better or worse. And I couldn't be happier. I always thought it was because I as being punished and then I realized that falling so far from the tree was a blessing in disguise.

Misery loves company... and it does not like the company of happiness.
My sinner friends don't seek to hang out with me anymore, I guess make them feel guilty for how they live their lives (though I never say anything except "No thank you I don't do that anymore). I get comments like "oh don't act like you didn't do it once" "won't hurt to do it again". I still love my friends but when I'm around them I am uncomfortable by their foul language and propensity towards partying. If they invite me over for a barbeque or something I always go if I'm not otherwise engaged, but I don't stay till all hours and I don't let them drag me down with them.
I do have one friend who is married now that doesn't seem to shy away from me, but she confessed to me that her and her husband were wanting to start going to church.

In some cases they do but I wouldn't
count on them one hundred per cent of the time.

Yes- How can two walk together except they both first agree? A fool and his money are both soon parted.... what fellowship does darkness have with light? A house divided cannot stand. Come out from among them and be ye separate saith the Lord.... Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethern to dwell together in unity...
those are just a few scripture references that come to mind about the company we keep.

Hmmmm....I dont know if these sayins are true or not.
I know for me the one about the apple that does not fall far from the tree is not true for me personally. In my family it is not uncommom to drink, smoke, and party...none of which I do. I have gone to school, and no on in my family has done that. I am also the only Christian in my family, and I try to live it even when I have slip ups as I have in the past. I would say based on my own experiences the one saying about the apple is untrue.

Also, as an additional note, I think that these statements are general truths and there are always exceptions.
But yeah, I do see people who are good who hang out with others who are good and those who are bad gravitate towards those who are also like-minded....
And I'm sure that good increases good and bad increases bad hwen you hang out with those people.
As for the apple not falling far from the tree, perhaps that one has more variation and exceptions - if it is true at all.
I can see the one about friends being true most of the time...birds of a feather flock together.
But the one on the family and being like those who raised you....I think that is not true a lot of the time. Many rebel against their parents, due to wanting freedom or perhaps seeing the hypocrisy or folly of their ways...But for whatever reason, I do see a lot of people different from their folks.

I agree with what you said! And the exceptions in the case of family also including the spouse, other than brothers or sisters. There are situations that people did not make right decisions in choosing their spouses. That’s also why there are so many divorces.
