It's far too easy for us to dwell on the negativity in our lives and relationships, but I wonder how many of us take a moment, even a single second, out of our day to say "thank you" to God for the special qualities our loved ones have that are a blessing to us? I know I need to do better in that regard. I see a lot of panic-filled pleas for help for deteriorating relationships, take a moment here to share some of the things you like, love, or appreciate about the people in your life. It doesn't have to be a spouse, it can be a boyfriend, brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc . . .

I'll start off. I am thankful first for my mother who reminds me to have patience every day when dealing with people. I think she was blessed with an over abundance of it. How a pacifist-nature ever ended up with so many Type-A children I'll never know, but she manages to keep her sanity in dealing with us all the same.

I'm so thankful for a husband who loves me, warts and all (yes, I have warts). He's not perfect, but he's such a blessing to me. God gave me a wonderful gift in him.

I am thankful beyond measure for my husbands (both of them -- one deceased), children, and grandchildren who were/are able to come to a family gathering and not get into a fight. We can talk/discuss without causing a ruckus. Bless G-d, He is so good!

They are all so loving! Bless G-d!!!!

Aside from the usual family- my spouse, kids, grandkids, etc which already knows and hears all the time how much I love and appreciate them I would like to thank God for:

the kids who are in Sunday school week after week year after year growing in the Lord...the time they spend memorizing speeches, songs, etc, to present to the congregation during special programs...esp. the Christmas plays....it would be a very dull world without them! I have been very blessed by them down through the years.

I am also very thankful for the group of young people who goes out to shovel sidewalks in the wintry season for the elderly. There are so many terrific kids doing terrific things, but the media doesn't want to show those stories.

I've been adding to a gratitude list twice a week - 10 new items each day. It's amazing how you can just keep going and going listing blessings when you spend time to ponder it.

My first and most important blessing is a saving faith that God gave me by His grace. On my list I joke that God and I each did our part. I did the sinning, and God did the saving.

his is such a great exercise on days when one is "down," when one is unthankful or in a negative mood, etc. A good exercise to give a teen during times of hardship.
