Just because I haven't started a chat thread lately ... here is the one for October! (And yes, I know I'm a few hours early ... but it's Oct. 1 somewhere!)

Good morning everyone. I am up before the sun, I can't wait until the time changes and the mornings are a little more "perky" with the sun!

Today is the day Noah gets his "bottle rotten" teeth fixed. He usually wakes up at 5am for a morning nursing, but today he decided to do that an hour earlier! Since we were both having troubles sleeping next to each other (no food or drink since mid-night), I got up to shower. I still have 1 hour before I need to leave though. Normally they let him have 2 ounces of clear liquid up until 2 hours before for anesthesia... but the instructions from the dentist were no. Later this afternoon, Dd has an orthodontic appt. The gas is already being guzzled this month!! Next week I might have to go to town every day!! 21 miles one way! I don't know how we will afford it, but I'm sure we will find away.

I started to vent in here about my brother, but deleted it. I better wait. Just remember to pray for him today. This has to do with the girl he's been living with, that is from the Phillipines, stealing money, and illegal immigrants.

Karaboo ~ your family picture is really nice!!! What a bunch of cutie pies:)

Good Morning everyone. Happy October! So I made a commitment kinda of like New Years Resolutions only start on October 1st. That I will work the schedule that I have set up. Instead of letting the kids dictate what we are doing I am going to do it.
Not let my mom dictate it either. She is just gonna have to live with the time I can give her.

Slow day here.

Maybe I will let Caleb get out these stickers that he got and let him tattoo his boat wall decorations with them. I have been trying to do more artsy stuff with the boys lately.

Is it fall in Israel right now? I really should find out.

I am going through Romeo and Juliet with David. I found that B&N have Shakespearian plays with translations written on the opposite pages. I think that I like Romeo and Juliet even less now. I should have gone with MacBeth instead.

We have also finished reading Great Expectations with David. It was great, but very loooooong book for a read a loud. We are now doing The Giver with him for his read aloud.

Donna, we are so thrilled for all the good news that you have been pouring out!

Took the truck in this morning (yes, girls, I said morning because that was all he had available ). The brakes were something stupid, an easy $50 fix. The bad news is that the parts that hold the body to the frame are about shot - remember that it is an '85 and I live in snow country. That truck is never gonna pass another PA inspection, so we have to figure out what to do with it. Bryan has a nice 2002 Durango out on his lot that he will sell me for $4K. It's a nice vehicle, but I don't have $4k. He says we might be able to work something out. In the meantime, we have to figure what we're doing with the truck. It still runs like a tank, so we are leaning towards selling it in Ohio (no vehicle inspections in OH) for what we can get and trying to scrape up the money to replace it. We can still drive it for a bit, but when the sticker expires we will be illegal. It's just one more thing we didn't need right now.

Cindy, sorry about the truck. I took my car to the "DMV" the other day and they did the "inspection", which is just verifying the make, model, VIN, and odometer. Not an inspection, for sure!
How expensive is the fix?

We are back from the hospital. My poor baby! There was a lot more involved than I anticipated. They had him under anesthesia for almost 2 hours. His nose was bleeding from a tube, his throat is dry and he is coughing because of a tube, he had an I.V this time, too. When his mouth is open I can see 2 silver crowned teeth in the back of his mouth. I haven't noticed the front teeth quite yet, Noah has been very sleepy and clingy to me. At least we are home, more comfy to be here than a hospital. Noah did GREAT with the fasting though, he is such a sweet heart! At the hospital, I prayed for him before they took him back. I looked at him while I was praying only to discover that he had his hands folded. It was so sweet, that I prayed twice for him, just so that I could watch him pray again.

Last month I told you that Dh clicked on a virus in his email.... well... now he needs a new computer. He is stressing over this because we really don't have the money for one, but he really needs his own computer for his work. Mine doesn't run the best for him to be using.

Dd has her orthodontist appt. soon!

Yeah, bummer about the truck, Cindy. At least you live close enough to Ohio to sell it for a decent price.

Poor Noah! Give him extra loving for me, homegrown. I have great sympathy for all who suffer dental work.

We did a minimum of school today. Nate has ants in his pants. Also we had to mow at my grandparents' since it is going to rain for the next four days. And now a JAG disc has come in the mail and the last disc left us in a cliffhanger and Nate can't live without finding out what happens next, lol.

Hugs for Noah(owies ) and cindy (Bad Truck )

Melissa hope the enforced schedule works for you. it never has for me. *shrug* but then I am the problem there.

my day-

I finished Project #1 for photo II class. 20 photos sewn to a 4x3 "quilt" with dog tag name labels also sewn on with a few neat "charms" It came out "okay" an A- or B+ instead of an A+ but I'll live with it. I also finished up projects #2 Five matted & ready for display Negative prints. and Project #3 two etched photos that are also matted and ready for presentation.

We start Project #4 (Water Colored prints) & #5 (Photo Restoration) on Monday I have my photo picked out for both so I am moving on! I will very likely spend monday in the darkroom helping that young man by the name of Jason that I asked prayer for last month. He is the young man that is not saved. Another young man actually told him last week that he needed to give up partyin all night aturday and get himself to church sunday. Jason made a crude remark about not wanting to get drunk with jesus.

BUT BUT BUT! I found another connection with him. He is an Air force brat. We have that military experience connection. His dad spent time in Iraq so it is really helping me and him both to talk to him. Pray that I am a good witness that God can use me to draw this young man to him. He is getting married in a few weeks. he really loves her. calls her his wife already. He is really sweet (and obviously hurting) when you can get him down off the looking for innuendo and loud crude comments. Thanks for continued prayers for Jason.

Friends stopped by to look at my piano. We took it all apart. It is SO dirty inside! I have to figure out what is wrong with my vacuum (hose doesn't work) so I can vacuum it out. Also, the lid rests on the keys in one spot, which is a problem. We have to remove the action in order to figure out the silent key, as well. But it was fun, and helpful. If I can find the tools, the husband will help me fix and tune it my first time.

Narnia...praying that you will be able to continue standing firm, with respect, submission and wisdom, for what you KNOW to be right against your husband's control issue. I pray that you be given an extra measure of wisdom, and of discernment...so that you will know WHAT to say and WHEN to say it to do the most for God's Will to be done in your family...both in your marriage and in your roles as parents.

I am thinking that even God won't want to heal my truck LOL. Bryan says the frame is actually pretty good, it's all the stuff that holds the body to the frame that is shot. It is inoperable. He thinks it actually will hold together for quite awhile yet, but PA is very picky about their inspections and there is no way it would pass.

Yeah, Jen, it did hoover to get bad news before noon. I just watched the last available disc of JAG the other day - season 7 won't be out till November. The last episode of season 6 is a major cliffhanger, but I actually saw that episode when it was on TV so I know what happens. I think I saw maybe 1 or 2 episodes after that and then I never saw anymore, so I have no idea how they ended the series. It's driving me nuts (yes, short drive, I know).

Sorry about the computer, Annie. If you were closer I'd have my dh take a look - he's been able to resurrect many dead computers.

Speaking of computers, I pulled Erin's internet cable for the day. I am such a mean mom. I stopped short of pulling her laptop because she has a writing project on it, and I don't want to stop her from doing that. However, her online friends seem to have a higher priority than doing her chores these days. She doesn't have that many chores - with 8 people in the house it stays reasonable if everyone does 2 or 3 jobs per day. I told her that next time I find her chores undone she will lose it for 2 days, then 3, and so on. Someone pass the golden spoon.

That sure gets to the heart of the matter.

We had an eventful day today. First we went to a symphony performance put on for local school children. We have a wonderful performing arts center in our town. They hold many great performances there. Today the conductor took the children through each section of the orchestra. He explained their role, had them play a few bars, so the children could recognize them, then they played a piece. Next he would go to another section of the orchestra and do the same thing.

It was absolutely wonderful. Not only that; it was free! All the kids enjoyed it immensely. I was concerned that Mr. Manly would complain and squirm, but he smiled through the whole thing and told me, "It was absolutely wonderful."

ETA: to fix boo boo

I guess when it rains it pours Not only is Dhubby's computer out, but my dryer just went out Someone is coming in the morning to look at it though.

Noah has been tired all day. His teeth are ugly . Someone at church had the nerve to tell me to change his nutrition. It's not like I give him candy and koolaid!!! Oh well.... I know he eats healthy, so they can just be quiet. You can see his silver teeth (his first molars) when he opens his mouth big, and sometimes when he jabbers, they are very shiny. I kind of wish I would of told him to fill them instead of crown them. His front teeth aren't too noticeable. The ones they filled in with fillings, in the front, aren't noticed at all, the ones that have crowns just look a little discolored, but not really bad. Someone who didn't know he had dental work done probably wouldn't really notice unless they were talking with him for a while and then noticed. Uh... out of all babies, why him?? He had 6 crowns and some fillings done. . How on earth did he end up with such horrible teeth! I still feel so awful about it.

New news on my brother.... We thought that his situation was going to end up being swept under the rug. BUT the FBI agent said that what they are doing will be shut down, he just needs to find someone who has time to take the case. So pray that someone takes the case!! As much as it is hard to see my brother go down the wrong path, it would be much harder on our family if he got away with the crimes him and his girl friend have committed.

So they replaced his baby teeth? Are the crowns? won't they come out if they are just baby teeth and then perminent teeth will come in right?

Well, do yourself a favor and don't watch the last episode of Season 1 on DVD--because it's a cliffhanger only they NEVER MADE THE SECOND HALF! So after waiting on the edges of our seats...we still don't know what happened. Nate and I thought we were going nuts when we put the season 2 disc in, lol.

Cynthia, that is fantastic. Does he play any instrument? Perhaps music could be the catalyst for him learning self-discipline.

Annie, I am sure they did fill the teeth, but crowns are still important. I lost a whole tooth that just crumbled because my mom couldn't afford the crown when I was 15.

I think they crown them when there is no other way to save the teeth. Mr. Manly had a ton of dental work done when he was five. It was terrible. My girls have had a total of three fillings between them. Mr. Manly even had to have a tooth pulled. He has a spacer.

Opps, Mr. Manly said it was wonderful, not I was wonderful.

He was playing piano and has a talent for it, but it was a fight to get him to practice. It's not a hill I want to die on and with price increases, we could not afford to continue with piano this year anyway.

OK - I finally caught up! Believe it or not, I didn't even turn the computer on yesterday (I know it's hard to believe right?)! We got a lot done! All of our school work, some cleaning & the commissary shopping! I even took 1/2 hour nap! I think that's why I got so much done! I have been getting headaches in the afternoon & trying to work through them & ending up not getting much done! The nap made me feel better & I got more done! So simple & makes such sense, but it took me so long to realize it! BTW - I haven't ordered my Levity yet (because I didn't get on the computer yesterday), but that will be done today - even if nothing else gets done!

quote:

Sorry about the computer, Annie. If you were closer I'd have my dh take a look - he's been able to resurrect many dead computers.
I was thinking the same thing here! Annie - Maybe you could ask around & see if there is anyone like Cindy's dh or my dh who could take a look at it & maybe get it back up & running! Also, I want you to reject those feelings of blame & guilt for Noah's teeth! Not everyone has good teeth! My kids eat the same diet & ds has never had a cavity & dd had 4 baby teeth crowned & several others filled! It is NOT anything you have done and don't let anyone (including yourself) tell you it is!!! End of lecture!
